The European HPC Professional Traineeship Programme (HPCTRAIN) has launched its calls aimed at strengthening Europe’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) workforce through high-quality professional traineeships. The programme supports the development of future HPC users, developers, operators, and support specialists while helping bridge the gap between education and the labour market.
Call for Traineeship Opportunities – Now open
The call invites organisations across the European HPC ecosystem to submit traineeship opportunities. Eligible hosting organisations include HPC centres, supercomputing facilities, universities and research institutions offering professional HPC career paths, industry partners, SMEs, startups, and public-sector organisations active in HPC-related domains.
Proposed traineeships must provide meaningful hands-on experience in areas such as HPC systems and architectures, parallel programming, performance optimisation, HPC-enabled data analysis and simulation, or HPC-related aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. Hosting organisations are expected to provide mentoring, supervision, and a structured professional environment that enables trainees to develop practical HPC skills.
Approved traineeship opportunities will be published on the HPCTRAIN website as part of a continuously updated catalogue available to prospective candidates.
Call for Trainees
Individuals can apply for published and approved traineeship opportunities through the HPCTRAIN programme. The call is aimed at early-career professionals and graduates seeking to build careers in HPC and related technologies. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in HPC and must be citizens and residents of a EuroHPC participating country.
Selected trainees will undertake placements lasting between three and six months in professional HPC environments across Europe, gaining hands-on experience while working alongside experts in academia, industry, and supercomputing centres. Financial support is provided to help cover living and mobility costs during the traineeship period.
