CINECA is a non-profit consortium made up of Italian universities, national research institutions, and the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), it is the largest computing centre in Italy and one of the most important worldwide.
CINECA hosts the Leonardo supercomputer, one of three European precursors of exascale-class systems acquired within the EuroHPC initiative. The consortium supports the scientific community through high-performance computing, develops management systems for university administrations, and designs information systems for businesses and public administration.
CINECA has extensive experience in providing education and training in parallel computing and computational sciences, and represents Italy in PRACE.
