The University of Stuttgart is home to the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), which was established in 1996 as Germany’s first national high-performance computing centre. HLRS is a founding member of the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing, the alliance of Germany’s three national supercomputing centres.
HLRS provides state-of-the-art HPC services to academic users and industry, with a particular strength in computational engineering. The centre’s supercomputing environment is primarily designed for scientific engineering tasks, making its systems regularly among the world’s largest and fastest platforms used for industrial research.
HLRS’s HPC training programme is among the most extensive and experienced in Europe, providing continuing professional education to approximately 1,400 trainees each year.
